You can also use the file transfer tool in your web host's control panel. The advantage of using the software over the control panel is that with the software you can upload more files at one time...even entire folders. The control panel at most hosting accounts makes you browse to each file separately and only move 10 to 12 files in one go. This is fine for one or two files, but when you want to install a whole web site or a script, FTP software is much better.
